History
A city of heritage and glory, Udaipur was a place of political importance for the rulers of Mewar. Founded by Maharan Udai Singh in the year 1557 the city of Udaipur was made the capital of Mewar kingdom after the capital was shifted from Chittorgarh to avoid frequent attacks of Mughals. The city was joined with the state of Rajasthan after India achieved independence.
